About Me
For the past seven years I have worked teaching Pilates to clients of all levels of ability, and all age groups, many of whom have a wide range of injuries and physical conditions. “With regard to my background in both Physiotherapy & Pilates I believe that each discipline compliments the other, to give me unique understanding of spine and joint problems and how to help clients improve joint stability to improve or resolve many associated orthopaedic symptoms”.
Many new clients come to me with complex medical conditions that require individual attention, and during an ordinary group Pilates class it would be difficult to provide the amount of time necessary to offer the best possible guidance. The One-to-One sessions allow for that focused time and enables me to tailor-make the appropriate treatment plan.
In 2017 I completed the Diamond Pilates Course, a specialist course focusing on teaching both men and women with Pelvic Floor Problems and working with these clients to improve the function of the pelvic floor. This may be of particular benefit for women during pregnancy and post pregnancy, and for women who are perimenopausal, menopausal, and postmenopausal. This programme of exercise can also help clients who are suffering from problems such as prolapse, or continence issues, or post prostate surgery.
One of my areas of special interest is Bone Health and Osteoporosis and I am a Professional Member of the Royal Osteoporosis Society. I frequently work with clients who are diagnosed with Osteoporosis and Osteopenia and in November 2020 I presented a Zoom event to educate clients about Exercise and Bone density. Part of my aim was to present and discuss the new guidelines for men and women with Low Bone Density and to explain how this is such an important issue for all women who are menopausal and post-menopausal.
